Super Buu calls each of the blobs back to him, which merge with him, changing his appearance and giving him access to all of Piccolo's and Gotenks memories, abilities and power. The new and improved Super Buu then fights Gohan, and it's clear that Super Buu has the advantage. Gohan is unable to keep up with Super Buu's new speed and strength.

They proceed to ask Vegeta, who has thought up a name for his unborn child and still refuses to participate in the Tournament of Power while Bulma is pregnant.
As Gohan and the others watch on hopelessly, Goku contacts his son from the Other World via King Kai's telepathy and tells him that even in his injured state he has enough power to defeat Cell. Reinvigorated, Gohan prepares a final, one-handed Kamehameha to repel Cell's blast.
Majin Buu pounds the supreme kai into the ground, and is preparing to eat him when Gohan flies in and knocks Majin Buu away. Gohan's recovery is short-lived, because Majin Buu hits him with an energy blast of incredible power. As Gohan falls to the Earth in a forest, he is very badly injured.
However, Goku's tail eventually rips off, just in the nick of time to avoid the final blow. Completely free from his weak point, but enraged at Gohan for pulling off his tail, Goku is about fight back. But Gohan surrenders and reveals his face to Goku. Bulma retells her adventures with Goku. Gohan chooses to stay dead and vanishes after a farewell.
Supreme Kai takes off after them, and Goku, Piccolo, Krillin, and Vegeta follow. Kibito heals Gohan, and those two and Videl also leave. Supreme Kai explains that long ago there was a wizard named Bibidi who created a monster with unbelievable destructive power. Supreme Kai killed Bibidi, and the monster, Majin Buu, was left sealed in a ball.
Gohan fights off Moro and henchmen long enough for Goku and Vegeta to arrive back to Earth. Gohan then lends Goku some of his energy to help kill Moro.
