The Albuquerque New Mexico Temple is the 73rd operating temple of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The temple was announced on April 4, 1997 by church president Gordon B. Hinckley. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 20, 1998, with over 6,500 people in attendance.
