"Lucky Strike" is a song by American pop rock band Maroon 5, and is the fourth track on their fourth studio album Overexposed (2012). The song was released on January 20, 2014, in Belgium, as the album's first and only promotional single. [4] It was written by band frontman Adam Levine with producers Ryan Tedder and Noel Zancanella.
The song describes a woman through the use of advertising slogans. The slogan "So round, so firm, so fully packed, so free and easy on the draw" was used in the Lucky Strike brand cigarette advertising of the time, first heard in 1944 on the Jack Benny and Your Hit Parade radio programs.
The title is based on an American Tobacco Company (ATC) radio ad jingle of the 1930s for Lucky Strike cigarettes, featuring a tobacco auctioneer chant delivered by North Carolina tobacco auctioneer Lee Aubrey "Speed" Riggs, which ended with the phrase, "Sold, American!", stressing that American only purchased the highest quality tobacco for its ...
