Stanley Marsh 3 (January 31, 1938 – June 17, 2014) was an American artist, businessman, philanthropist, and prankster from Amarillo, Texas. He is perhaps best known for having been the sponsor of the Cadillac Ranch , an unusual public art installation off historic Route 66 , now Interstate 40 , west of Amarillo.
Both sites belonged to Stanley Marsh 3. [7] Marsh was well known in the city for his longtime patronage of artistic endeavors including the Cadillac Ranch; Floating Mesa; Amarillo Ramp, a work by land artist Robert Smithson; and a series of fake traffic signs throughout the city known collectively as the Dynamite Museum. Battlement Mesa Forest Reserve was established by the United States General Land Office in Colorado on December 24, 1892, with 858,240 acres (3,473.2 km 2). In 1905 all federal forests were transferred to the U.S. Forest Service .

Battlement National Forest was established by the U.S. Forest Service in Colorado on July 1, 1908, from part of the Battlement Mesa Forest Reserve with 753,720 acres (3,050.2 km 2). March 11, 1924 it was renamed Grand Mesa National Forest , and the original name was discontinued.
There are hundreds of lakes in the Sawtooth Mountains, most of which have been created by alpine glaciers.The majority of the lakes are within the Sawtooth Wilderness, but several are not yet still within Sawtooth National Recreation Area The largest lakes are Redfish, Alturas, Pettit, Yellow Belly, Stanley, and Sawtooth lakes.

The byway runs north from Cedaredge along Highway 65, to the top of the Grand Mesa at more than 10,000 feet (3,000 m). It also includes Land's End Road to the Land's End Observatory from Highway 65. The byway continues past Island Lake, one of more than 300 trout-filled lakes in Grand Mesa National Forest.
