Muhammad Sanusi bin Md Nor (Jawi: محمد سنوسي بن مد نور; Malay pronunciation: [muhammad sanusi]; born 4 August 1974 [1]) is a Malaysian politician who has served as the 14th Menteri Besar of Kedah since May 2020 [4] and Member of the Kedah State Legislative Assembly (MLA) for Jeneri since May 2018.
In early December 2020, Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor announced that the Kedah state government had granted a permit to a Kuala Lumpur-based company to prospect and extract rare earth metals valued at RM43 trillion. However, further investigation revealed that the deposits were only worth an estimated RM62 billion. [1] [2]
The Kedah State Executive Council is the executive branch of the State Government of Kedah, Malaysia. The Council is composed of the Menteri Besar , the Leader of the council, appointed by the Sultan on the basis that he/she commands the majority support in the Kedah State Legislative Assembly , (half of the number of the members of the assembly).
