Brussels Airport (Dutch: Luchthaven Brussel, French: Aéroport de Bruxelles) (IATA: BRU, ICAO: EBBR) is the main international airport of Belgium.It is located in the municipality of Zaventem in Flemish Brabant, 12 kilometres (7.5 mi) northeast [2] of Brussels.
Brussels' first airport was located in Haren between 1914 and the early 1950s. The site, which was later used by the Belgian Air Force, serves since 2018 as NATO's new headquarters, previously located south of the Boulevard Léopold III / Leopold III-laan. [2] The current site of Brussels Airport is located several kilometres to the east. [3]
The Boulevard Léopold III is a major dual carriageway linking via the A201 motorway the center of Brussels to its airport, the latter being located just over 1 km (0.62 mi) from the NATO site. Access can be done by taking the STIB/MIVB bus lines 12, 21, 65 and the tram line 62, as well as the De Lijn network.
