"Congratulations" is a song co-written [2] and performed by American contemporary R&B singer Vesta Williams (then known mononymously as Vesta), issued as the third and final official single from her second studio album Vesta 4 U. It was her only single to appear on the Billboard Hot 100, peaking at #55 on the chart in 1989. [4]
Four singles were released from the album, with three reaching R&B top ten. "Sweet, Sweet Love" and "Congratulations" were both R&B hits, peaking top five on Billboard ' s Hot R&B Singles chart. Born in Coshocton, Ohio, United States, [1] [3] Williams' father was a disc jockey.Her family moved from Ohio to Los Angeles in the 1960s. While there, Williams and her three sisters, Margaret, Marte and Marlena, appeared on the television show Jack and Jill as "The Williams Sisters".< [3] Later, she returned to Ohio but decided to go back to Los Angeles in order to launch a solo career.
