Silverstone Circuit is a motor racing circuit in England, near the Northamptonshire villages of Silverstone and Whittlebury. It is the home of the British Grand Prix , which it first hosted as the 1948 British Grand Prix .

The 2nd BRDC International Trophy meeting – formally the International Daily Express Trophy – was held on 26 August 1950 at the Silverstone Circuit, England.The race was run to Formula One regulations, and was held over two heats of 15 laps each, followed by a final race of 35 laps.
Silverstone Circuit is built on the site of a World War II Royal Air Force bomber station, RAF Silverstone, which opened in 1943. The airfield's three runways, in classic WWII triangle format, lay within the outline of the present track. Since its first use in the 1940s, the circuit has undergone several changes.
