On 15 October 2022 the International Olympic Committee officially suspended the National Olympic Committee of Guatemala. As a result of the suspension, any athletes of Guatemala no longer had the ability represent the country and compete under the country's flag/name at the Olympic Games and other international multi-sports events.

The nation made its official debut in Helsinki 1952, and Guatemalan athletes have appeared in every edition of the Summer Olympics from 1968 onwards.
