September 30, 2014. Mt. Lebanon (locally / ˈlɛb.ə.nən /) is a Home rule municipality in Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 34,075 at the 2020 census. It is a suburb of Pittsburgh. Established in 1912 as Mount Lebanon, the township was a farming community.
Mount Lebanon is part of the Sweet Grass Hills and ranks as the fifth-highest peak in the range, [1] and fifth-highest in the county. [2] It is situated 26 miles (42 km) north of Chester, Montana, and eight miles (13 km) south of the Canada–United States border. Precipitation runoff from the mountain drains into tributaries of the Milk River. [1]
Mount Lebanon also lent its name to two political designations: a semi-autonomous province in Ottoman Syria that was established in 1861 and the central Governorate of modern Lebanon (see Mount Lebanon Governorate).
