The NFC Institute of Engineering and Fertilizer Research (NFC-IEFR) was incorporated in 1986 by National Fertilizer Corporation of Pakistan (NFC) and is located in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan. The first Principal/Director was Dr. Anwar ul Haq from 1986 to 2006. Thereafter Dr.Javaid Rabbani Khan served as Director from 2006 until 2013.

NUST was established in March 1991 for the promotion of higher education in the country, especially in the fields of science and technology, and its charter was granted in 1993. [2] The main campus in Islamabad also contains Pakistan's first National Science and Technology Park, certified by International Association of Science Parks (IASP). [3]
The university is the first multi-campus university in Pakistan, having five modern campuses based in different cities. [3] These campuses are located in Chiniot-Faisalabad, Islamabad, Karachi, Lahore, and Peshawar, providing a standard educational environment and recreational facilities to 11,000 students, out of which 500 are faculty members and a quarter is covered by female students.
Up to date, the HEC has published rankings for the years 2006, 2012, 2013, 2014 and most recently 2015.
