Soragune Devalaya (Sinhala: සොරගුණේ දේවාලය), also known as Soragune Kuda Katharagama Devalaya, is an ancient Devalaya, situated in Haldummulla Divisional Secretariat, Sri Lanka. [2] It lies on Badulla – Bandarawela main road, approximately 54 km (34 mi) away from the Badulla, the capital of Uva Province.
According to the written history, Uggal Aluthnuwara Devalaya was first constructed in 1382 as Medagama Devalaya by a King named Suriya. It is said that the King Suriya refers to King Bhuvanakabahu V (1374–1408) of Gampola Kingdom who belonged to the Suriya clan. [3]
