    i hate my legs. No matter what weight I have been, no matter what size I have been ( 6, 8, 10) I feel like my legs look horrible in shorts, skirts, or dresses above the knee.     You could 1- embrace those sexy curvy legs and thighs or 2- do a lot of leg exercises. Get those leg muscles to firm up. Actual weight lifted on a leg press = (weight on the machine)*sin (angle of the machine) Weight lifted on a squat = weight of the bar + weight on the bar + 80% (or so) of your body weight.     Ladies - weights, squats, lunges don't make your legs bulky. I do not have long, lean legs. I am 5'1", with sizable knees and ankles. When I played soccer for fun. in high school, I built up my calves basically by just looking at them. So when I started doing weights after gaining 40 lbs through 2 pregnancies, I was really worried about bulking up.

    New exercise programs can cause a bit of water retention. Your muscle retain water in order to help with muscle repair. This is normal and you have to wait it out. As long as you are eating in a deficit, you will continue to lose fat and, overall, your body dimensions will decrease. You will not bulk up while eating in a deficit.
