Shakugan no Shana DVD volume 1 cover, released in Japan on January 25, 2006. Shakugan no Shana is an anime series including three television series, original video animation (OVA) episodes, and bonus shorts. The episodes are based on the light novel series of the same name written by Yashichiro Takahashi, with illustrations drawn by Noizi Ito.
Shakugan no Shana follows an age-old conflict between the human world and the Crimson Realm (紅世, Guze), which is a parallel universe to it. The inhabitants of the Crimson Realm, the Crimson Denizens (紅世の徒, Guze no Tomogara), can manipulate the Power of Existence (存在の力, Sonzai no Chikara), which serves as the "fuel" for a being's existence.
Voiced by: Rie Kugimiya (Japanese); Tabitha St. Germain (Season 1), Cherami Leigh (Seasons 2-3, Film) (English) Shana (シャナ) is a Flame Haze known as the "Flame-Haired Red-Hot-Eyed Hunter" (「炎髪灼眼の討ち手」, "Enpatsu Shakugan no Uchite"), who hunts the Denizens and contracted with Alastor, who calls her "The Great One".

In 2007, Kawada was pleased to be asked once more to write theme music for the upcoming second season of the anime adaptation entitled Shakugan no Shana II. The title track was used as the second introductory theme for the anime series Shakugan no Shana Second, starting with episode 16 [2] which was broadcast on January 31, 2008. The B-side, "Sociometry", was used as the ending theme for Shakugan no Shana Second. This is Kotoko's second tie-in with the anime series after her "Being" single.
