We ask those entering the contest to take a photo and post it on a poster board. Around 11 we give pre-printed tickets for the three categories, guests are then asked to tape their tickets to the person they are voting for. Although the setup is a bit of a pain this was great because there was virtually no counting.

The 2nd place winner got 2 DVDs and a $10 gift card, and the 3rd place winner got 1 DVD and a $10 gift card. Prizes totaled somewhere around $100, maybe a bit less. We xerox copies of a ballot with the usual categories. About 2 hours into the party we'll have the "contest" where each person or couple has to get in front of the crowd and "play" their costume. We then have voting which can go for individual or couple (like one year, we had a pair of Smurphs - they won funniest).

So far for each I have two horror movie DVDs, a Halloween themed Pez dispensor, a bottle of Haunted Hot Sauce & a finger shaped soap (scented like dirt!).
