Elevation along the trail varies from 5,280 feet (1,610 m) to 6,900 feet (2,100 m), and total acreage is 450 acres (1.8 km 2). Koosharem is situated at the cross-roads for travelers going between Capitol Reef National Park and Bryce Canyon National Park and/or Zion National Park. Koosharem is also the closest town to the famous Fish Lake. The town also serves as an important point along the many trails of the Piute ATV Trail System.
The community is located in Toll Canyon (at the head of East Canyon) on Interstate 80 about 9 miles (14 km) northwest of Park City and about 15 miles (24 km) east of Salt Lake City in an area previously known as Gorgoza.
