The Chickasaw (/ ˈ tʃ ɪ k ə s ɔː / CHIK-ə-saw) are an Indigenous people of the Southeastern Woodlands, United States. Their traditional territory was in northern Mississippi, northwestern and northern Alabama, western Tennessee and southwestern Kentucky. [2] Their language is classified as a member of the Muskogean language family.
The Chickasaw Nation (Chickasaw: Chikashsha I̠yaakni) is a federally recognized Indigenous nation with headquarters in Ada, Oklahoma, in the United States.The Chickasaw Nation descends from an Indigenous population historically located in the southeastern United States, including present-day northern Mississippi, northwestern Alabama, southwestern Kentucky, and western Tennessee. The Chickasaw Cultural Center features different seasonal exhibits, some of which are listed below.
