The National Road 90 is a large expressway on the West-East axis in Crete that connects the westernmost city and port, Kissamos with the easternmost, Sitia. It is also part of two major European routes: E65 (Kissamos-Chania) and ( E75 Chania-Rethymno-Heraklion-Agios Nikolaos-Sitia).
The second largest island in area is Euboea or Evvia, which is separated from the mainland by the 60m-wide Euripus Strait, and is administered as part of the Central Greece region. After the third and fourth largest Greek islands, Lesbos and Rhodes, the rest of the islands are two-thirds of the area of Rhodes, or smaller.
It is more widely known as North Road Axis of Crete (Greek: Βόρειος Οδικός Άξονας Κρήτης, BOAK) and is Greece's only motorway that is not on its mainland, but on an island. Certain parts have already been completed, as of summer 2007, such as the bypasses at Heraklion , Rethymno and Chania .

The A90 motorway, also known as the Northern Road Axis of Crete (Greek: Βόρειος Οδικός Άξονας Κρήτης, ΒΟΑΚ), [1] [2] is a mixture of motorway and limited-access roads that form the northern backbone of the national highway network in Crete, southern Greece. It is about 310 km, starting in Kissamos and ending in Sitia.
