The A16 road is a principal road of Lincolnshire in the East Midlands region of England, connecting the port of Grimsby and Peterborough, where it meets the A1175, A47 & A1139 then on to the A1 and the A605; the latter, in turn, giving a through route to Northampton and the west, and south west of England.
Crowland (modern usage) or Croyland (medieval era name and the one still in ecclesiastical use; cf. Latin: Croilandia) is a town and civil parish in the South Holland district of Lincolnshire, England. It is situated between Peterborough and Spalding. Crowland contains two sites of historical interest, Crowland Abbey and Trinity Bridge.
At Crowland the Welland used to split into two channels, one broadly following the present course of the river, and the other joining the Old South Eau to reach the River Nene near Wisbech. [2] The river no longer flows through Crowland, but the triangular bridge, which spanned the junction, remains in the centre of the town.

The village is 3.8 miles (6 km) west of Thorney and 4.5 miles (7 km) south of Crowland, both known for their historic abbeys. Eye Green railway station was a station in Eye, Cambridgeshire, on the Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway line between Peterborough and Wisbech. The station was opened by the Peterborough, Wisbech and Sutton Bridge Railway (PW&SBR) on 1 August 1866 and was originally named "Eye"; it was renamed "Eye Green" on 1 October 1875. [ 2 ]
