TFI Local Link, or simply Local Link, is a set of local bus services in Ireland which provide local public transport in rural areas, typically linking villages to local towns. As well as scheduled services, Local Link provides bookable door-to-door services for those with reduced mobility.
Local Link launched route 171, from Shercock to Dundalk via Carrickmacross and Inniskeen, in July 2023 with several journeys each way daily. An electric bus is used on the route. [ 7 ] Bus Éireann route 166 links Shercock to Cavan , Carrickmacross and Dundalk on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays only.
Local Link bus route C3 was introduced on 30 July 2018 and links the village to Ballyhaise and Cavan. There are three services in each direction Mondays to Saturdays and an additional three journeys each way on Friday and Saturday evenings. With two services in each direction on Sundays and Bank Holidays.
The station is the terminus of several local routes, including route 109 to Dublin, which operates hourly each way. Other local routes are the 111 to Ballinagh, Granard, Castlepollard and Athboy, the 166 to Dundalk, the 175 to Monaghan via Cootehill, the 175A to Monaghan via Cloverhill and Clones and the Tuesdays-only 465 to Carrigallen.
The town is also served by several Local Link Cavan Monaghan door-to-door routes. [ 9 ] Bus Éireann serves the town once weekly on Tuesdays, with route 465 providing a return journey to Cavan via Arvagh and Ballinagh , and a one-way to journey to Carrigallen .
In December 2023 Kilnaleck gained a regular several times daily (including Sundays) bus service. Route C2 operated by Local Link connects Kilnaleck with Ballinagh and Cavan. Over the decades Kilnaleck was served by CIÉ and from 1987 by Bus Éireann. However, in 2009 the remaining service, Bus Éireann route 179, was discontinued.
The local Church of Ireland, St. Ernan's, [8] Lisasturrin, Enniskeen, Kingscourt Parish, a gothic revival church built c. 1780, has the stained glass Four Evangelists' window (1864), originally in St. Jude's, Dublin, from the William Wailes studio Newcastle-upon-Tyne.
The village is served by Local Link bus route 176 which runs between Cavan and Monaghan. [3]Rail services do not serve Newbliss, as Newbliss railway station (which opened in 1855) was closed for passenger traffic on 14 October 1957 and closed altogether on 1 January 1960.
