Rockwall Independent School District is a public school district established in 1841 in Rockwall, Texas. In addition to Rockwall, the district serves the cities of Heath , McLendon-Chisholm , Mobile City , most of Fate , and small portions of Rowlett , Wylie , Garland , and Dallas in Rockwall County . The Academic Decathlon team is known as one of the top teams in both Texas and the nation. In 2013 and 2014, Rockwall won first place in the state of Texas and first place in the nation among public schools (3rd overall). The 2011 Hawks claimed a spot in the postseason making it their third trip to the playoffs in school history. In January 2019, Rockwall-Heath had hired historic Texas high school football coach, Mike Spradlin. In his first season, the Hawks finished 5-5. In the 2020-2021 season, the Rockwall-Heath Varsity football team had seen a 10-4 record.
