Plumas County (/ ˈ p l uː m ə s / ⓘ) is a county located in the Sierra Nevada of the U.S. state of California. As of the 2020 census , the population was 19,790. [ 2 ] The county seat is Quincy , [ 4 ] and the only incorporated city is Portola .
In Plumas County, California, Bransford was a county assessor from 1886 to 1890 and served three terms as the county sheriff. He was elected to these positions as a Democrat. [citation needed] Bransford moved to Salt Lake City in 1899 and remained there permanently.
Plumas County was partitioned from Butte County in 1854. [2] William T. Ward was elected as the first County Judge that April. [3]: 159–160 Judge Ward was succeeded by E.T. Hogan in 1857, then Israel Jones was elected in 1863 but died before assuming office, so A.P. Moore was appointed by the governor and served until 1865, when Hogan was re-elected.
