Cairo (/ ˈ k eɪ r oʊ /) is a city in Grady County, Georgia, United States. As of the 2020 census , the city had a population of 10,179. The city is the county seat of Grady County.
According to the U.S. Census Bureau, the county has a total area of 460 square miles (1,200 km 2), of which 455 square miles (1,180 km 2) is land and 5.7 square miles (15 km 2) (1.2%) is water. [ 4 ] The bulk of Grady County, centered on Cairo , is located on the Upper Ochlockonee River sub-basin of the larger Ochlockonee River basin.
The Cairo Commercial Historic District is a 12-acre (4.9 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1994. [ 1 ] It had 31 contributing buildings , mostly on North and South Broad Street, but also on Railroad Avenue and on Second Avenue and one on First Street.

The Grady County Courthouse is a courthouse in Cairo, Grady County, Georgia. It was constructed in 1985 after the previous courthouse burned down in 1980. The building was designed by Jinright, Ryan and Lynn Architects in the Classical Revival architectural style. [1]
