The restored building was converted to apartments and re-opened in February 2017 as "The Star", a reference to Texaco's start-shaped logo. [2] The luxury building holds 286 one- and two-bedroom apartments, ranging from 730 to 1,730 square feet, and 21,000 square feet of street-front retail space.

Markeen Apartments is located in the Near Southside of Fort Worth, Texas. The apartments sit on two lots at the northwest corner of Daggett and St. Louis avenues. The two-building complex was constructed in 1910 and designed in the Prairie School Style. It was built by Charles W. Forbes. The complex was purchased in 1999 and renovated.
