Melanie Fiona Hallim (born July 4, 1983) is a Canadian singer and songwriter. She was born and raised in Toronto , Ontario. [ 1 ] She began her career in 2002 as part of a Canadian R&B trio X-Quisite , who was nominated for a Juno Award for R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for their self-titled album (2004).
The album's lead single, "Wake Up Everybody", a cover of Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes song of the same name, was released on April 29, 2010, and features rapper Common and Canadian R&B singer Melanie Fiona. [9] It reached number 53 and spent 14 weeks on the US Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. [10]
Fiona's debut album The Bridge was released in 2009; she collaborated with Future Cut, Vada Nobles, Stereotypes, J. Phoenix and Peter Wade Keusch. The debut single " Give It to Me Right " was sent to radio stations on February 28, 2009, and peaked at number 20 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart and number 41 on the UK Singles Chart .

[9] A version of the song appears during the opening credits of the 1999 film Life. A version of the song appears during the closing credits of the 5th episode of the 2023 TV series 'Hijack'.
