Datafolha is Grupo Folha's polling institute, founded in 1983 [1] as the research department of Empresa Folha da Manhã S. A., and later on became a separate company [1] able to serve external clients, from 1990. In 1995, it became a separate business unit within Grupo Folha, a group of companies to which newspaper Folha de S.Paulo belongs.
In 1991, all shares of Empresa Folha da Manhã then belonging to Carlos Caldeira Filho were transferred to Octavio Frias de Oliveira, Folha's publisher until his death in 2007. Folha's executive editors since 1984 have been journalists Matinas Suzuki (1991–1997), Eleonora de Lucena (2001-2010) and Sérgio Dávila (from March 2010).

Created in 1995, Publifolha, Grupo Folha's book-publishing division, has released more than 1,000 titles and currently has 600 books in print. Its first book was “Primeira Página”, a collection of front pages from newspapers Folha da Manhã, Folha da Noite and Folha de S. Paulo since 1921.
