The 22671 / 22672 Chennai Egmore–Madurai Tejas Express is India's second semi-high speed Tejas Express introduced by Indian Railways connecting Chennai Egmore and Madurai Junction in Tamil Nadu, after Mumbai CSMT–Karmali Tejas Express. It is currently being operated with 22671/22672 train numbers on six days a week basis.
This bi-weekly train was introduced to provide a quicker journey from New Delhi to Tamil Nadu. Southern Railway began operating the train on 19 September 2004. [1] It shares its rakes with 22623/22624 Madurai–Chennai Egmore–Madurai Bi-weekly Superfast Express (via Dindigul, Trichy, Thanjavur, Viluppuram).
