Jack Birkett (11 June 1934 – 10 May 2010) was a British dancer, mime artist, actor and singer, best known for his work on stage as a member of Lindsay Kemp's theatre company, and in the films of Derek Jarman. [1] [2] He was often billed as Orlando or The Incredible Orlando. [3] Most of his best-known work was done when he was totally blind.

He produced and directed video productions and Super 8 films based on stage shows, happenings and events; among these are his Super 8 film of Nijinsky, the fool (1982, produced by Teatro alla Scala, Milano) and a video production of the play Goodbye G.O.D. by Carlos Miranda with Jack Birkett (The Incredible Orlando) in 1987.

Scent of a Woman is a 1992 American drama film produced and directed by Martin Brest that tells the story of a preparatory school student who takes a short-term job near Thanksgiving as a companion and assistant to a retired Army lieutenant colonel who is blind, depressed and irritable.
Tom Sullivan (Marc Singer) is a blind college student who wants to be normal. When not in class, Tom hangs out with his friend, Will Sly (R. H. Thomson), who does not treat him like a blind person. In fact, he goes out of his way to challenge Tom.
