left-pad was a free and open-source JavaScript package published by Azer Koçulu, an independent software engineer based in Oakland, California. [1] The package repetitively prepends characters to a string using a loop.
These unnecessary characters usually include whitespace characters, new line characters, comments, and sometimes block delimiters, which are used to add readability to the code but are not required for it to execute. Minification reduces the size of the source code, making its transmission over a network (e.g. the Internet) more efficient.
Unicode control characters will be removed. These characters are hard to remove by hand because they are all "invisible," but they can cause problems and unnecessarily increase the page's size. Some wikilinks will be simplified. For example, [[dog|dogs]] becomes [[dog]]s. Wikilinks that link to the current article are also removed.
