The disorder is sometimes called chronic relapsing polyneuropathy (CRP) or chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyradiculoneuropathy (because it involves the nerve roots). [2] CIDP is closely related to Guillain–Barré syndrome and it is considered the chronic counterpart of that acute disease. [ 3 ]
Efgartigimod alfa/hyaluronidase is indicated for the treatment of generalized myasthenia gravis in adults who are anti-acetylcholine receptor antibody positive. According to Lopate, et al., methylprednisolone is a viable treatment for chronic inflammatory demyelinative polyneuropathy (which can also be treated with intravenous immunoglobulin). The authors also indicate that prednisone has greater adverse effects in such treatment, as opposed to intermittent (high-doses) of the aforementioned medication.
