St. Paul Lutheran Church is located in central, Davenport, Iowa, United States. It is affiliated with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). The church's original property, which subsequently housed other Protestant congregations, was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, [ 1 ] but has since been torn down.

The school associated with the church was also founded in 1850, and is the oldest school in Tippecanoe County. The school serves children from age 2 through grade 8. Current enrollment is approximately 225. Saint James Lutheran School is accredited by the state of Indiana, [1] and National Lutheran School Accreditation. [2]
They established the first Lutheran church in the area in 1850. It is still in existence and is now known as Old East Paint Creek Lutheran Church. [3] A second congregation, known as the West Paint Creek Church, was organized in 1857 because parishioners found it difficult to navigate the poor roads in the area. [4]
The Bettendorf Carmel was sold to an Evangelical Christian Church. In 1978 the Franciscan Brothers of Christ the King bought the building and renamed it St. Francis Monastery. They used it for a retreat house and hosted banquets. The brothers sold the building and the new owners remodeled it became a four-star Abbey Hotel in 1993. [6]
Founded in June 1879, St. John's was one of the few all-Danish congregations in Iowa. They bought 40 acres (16 ha) of land in July 1883, and completed a parsonage the same year. The front portion of the present frame church was dedicated on March 25, 1889, and it was enlarged ten years later to its present T-plan.
