5 November – a Virgin Atlantic Airbus A340-311 G-VSKY suffered a partial undercarriage failure while being prepared for a landing at London Heathrow Airport. After numerous attempts to free the jammed left main undercarriage, an emergency landing was made. The aircraft suffered substantial damage.
