GISSV opened a Berkeley/East Bay campus* in August 2007, after a parent-led task force identified a number of families interested in German-English bilingual education in the East Bay. In the spring of 2018, the campus separated from GISSV and is operating now as East Bay German International School, a locally managed, independent school. [2]
The first recorded adult school in California was in San Francisco in 1856. Evening classes were taught in the basement of old St. Mary's church.
