The Type 151 Jockey was a compact and rather angular, low cantilever wing monoplane, built using the Wibault-Vickers corrugated skinned all-metal method as used on the Vireo. The unstressed skin was riveted onto a largely duralumin structure, a few steel tubes forming highly stressed members.
Only Westland and Handley Page submitted monoplane designs. The Ministry expressed a preference for an air-cooled engine [4] and all manufacturers apart from Armstrong-Whitworth and Blackburn chose the nine-cylinder Bristol Pegasus radial. The Westland PV.7 was a large, tall single-engined high-wing monoplane with separate cockpits for two crew.
Developed from the earlier Wib.3 the Wibault 7 was a C.I category single-seat high-wing braced parasol monoplane fighter powered by a 480 hp (360 kW) Gnome-Rhone 9Ad radial engine.
