    The same applies for members of the Garda Siochána. Former Old IRA veterans were entitled to an Defence Force guard of honour and firing party salute, but these were never considered State funerals, as I understand it. I had a quick look at the Dept. of the Taoiseach to find a 'definition' of what constitutes a State funeral, but without success.
