The Pikes Peak Ascent and Marathon is a trail running competition that begins at the base of Pikes Peak, in Manitou Springs, Colorado, and climbs over 7,815 feet (2382 m) to the top of the 14,115 foot (4302 m) peak.
In 2001, Sarah Gray became the third University of Colorado at Colorado Springs runner to earn a top-10 finish at nationals. Gray finished fourth in the women's 3,000 steeplechase at the NCAA Division II Outdoor National Track and Field Championships to join UCCS teammates Trent Briney and Maddi Bosen in ranking among the nation's top 10.
