Heriot Bay is the principal settlement on Quadra Island in British Columbia, Canada. Heriot Bay hosts a ferry terminal that is used by BC Ferries to sail to and from Whaletown on Cortes Island . There is also a government dock, [1] maintained by the Quadra Island Harbour Authority, and the marina at the Heriot Bay Inn.

Sutil Channel is located between Cortes Island to the east, and Quadra Island and Read Island to the west. It connects Calm Channel to the north with the Strait of Georgia to the south. Hoskyn Channel branches off toward the northwest from the Sutil Channel between Read Island and Quadra Island.
At Swartz Bay, Highway 17 leaves Vancouver Island, and starts on a 44 km (24 nmi)-long ferry route through the Southern Gulf Islands and the Strait of Georgia. The ferry route between Swartz Bay and the Mainland is the oldest and most heavily used route in the B.C. Ferries system.
