Carter Lake Dam (National ID # CO01650) is a dam in Larimer County, Colorado. The earthen dam was completed in 1950 by the United States Bureau of Reclamation , with a height of 214 feet (65 m), and a length of 1,235 feet (376 m) at its crest. [ 1 ]
Horsetooth and Carter Lake serve as the two principal reservoirs for water diverted eastward under the continental divide via the C-BT. The reservoir is a supplementary source of municipal water for Fort Collins, Greeley and other communities in the region, as well as for irrigation in the lower South Platte River basin.
This is a list of the largest reservoirs in the state of Colorado. All thirty-nine reservoirs that contain greater than 40,000 acre-feet (49 million cubic meters ) are included in the list.
