José Clemente Zulueta, was born in Paco, Manila on November 23, 1876. His mother died five days after his birth and his father died while he was still a child. Orphaned at a very young age, he was raised by Agustin de la Rosa and Juliana Estrada. The couple raised him as their own and gave him the nickname, "Peping".
