Bi-amping - An active crossover with two amplifiers.. Bi-amping and tri-amping is the practice of using two or three audio amplifiers respectively to amplify different audio frequency ranges, with the amplified signals being routed to different speaker drivers, such as woofers, subwoofers and tweeters.
MTX Audio loudspeaker enclosures (with rear panel reflex port tubes) which can mount 15-inch woofers, mid-range drivers and horn and/or compression tweeters. In this photo, only one driver is mounted. A cabinet with loudspeakers mounted in the holes. Number 1 is a mid-range driver. Number 2 is a high-range driver.
Loudspeaker time-alignment, usually simply referred to as "time-alignment" or "Time-Align", is a term applied in loudspeaker systems which use multiple drivers (like woofer, mid-range and tweeter) to cover a wide audio range. It involves delaying the sound emanating from one or more drivers (greater than 2-way) to correct the transient response ...
In some models they use an air motion transformer as a tweeter, or a particularly large chassis with a diameter of 17 centimetres (6.7 in) for the mid-range frequencies. Also in 1994, Burmester built a universal solution to clean the power supply. [4] By now the manufacturer also offers in-wall loudspeakers and an all-in-one system. [7] [8]
Dome tweeter with a membrane with 25 mm diameter made from titanium; from a JBL TI 5000 loudspeaker box, c. 1997. A dome tweeter is constructed by attaching a voice coil to a dome (made of woven fabric, thin metal or other suitable material), which is attached to the magnet or the top plate via a low compliance suspension.
Very few amplifiers can handle 2.7-ohm speakers. Older Magnepans used aluminum magnet wire, thin 31 gauge (0.0089", 0.23 mm) for the tweeters and thicker 22 gauge (0.0253", 0.64 mm) for the mid-bass. The wire is glued to the mylar with 3M 77 spray adhesive, then sealed with 3M Fastbond 30NF (Magnepan used to use Milloxane to seal, but no more).
