Alka-Seltzer is an effervescent antacid and pain reliever owned by Bayer since 1978. First marketed by the Dr. Miles Medicine Company of Elkhart, Indiana , United States , Alka-Seltzer contains three active ingredients: aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid or ASA), sodium bicarbonate , and anhydrous citric acid . [ 1 ]
Calcium carbonate antacid tablets. An antacid is a substance which neutralizes stomach acidity and is used to relieve heartburn, indigestion, or an upset stomach. [1] Some antacids have been used in the treatment of constipation and diarrhea. [2]
Magnesium is absorbed orally at about 30% bioavailability from any water soluble salt, such as magnesium chloride or magnesium citrate. The citrate is the least expensive soluble (high bioavailability) oral magnesium salt available in supplements, with 100 mg and 200 mg magnesium typically contained per capsule, tablet or 50 mg/mL in solution. [26]
Magnesium salicylate is a common analgesic [1] and nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) [2] used to treat mild to moderate musculoskeletal pain [3] such as in tendons and muscles.
