The Junior Kabaddi World Cup, formerly called the Junior World Kabaddi Championship, is an indoor junior international kabaddi competition conducted by the International Kabaddi Federation (IKF) in a standard style. In 2019, the first Junior Kabaddi World Cup was held in Iran and was won by the hosts. [1]
The Kabaddi World Cup is an outdoor international standard style kabaddi competition conducted by the IKF, contested by national teams. In 2024, it announced a plan to hold a 2025 Kabaddi World Cup in India in January 2025. The IKF men's competition has been previously contested in 2004, 2007 and 2016.
The previous World Cup was held in Melaka, Malaysia. [2] [7] A 2020 edition of the tournament was scheduled, but then was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.The decision to award the 2025 World Cup to the West Midlands of England was in part due to its hosting of the British Kabaddi League and the 2022 Commonwealth Games, [8] as well as its significant South Asian community.
