Atlantic Community High School, originally named Seacrest High School, was built in 1949 as a racially segregated school for white students in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach, Florida. African-American students living in the area attended Carver High School, which later became Carver Middle School and is now the Delray Beach Full Service Center.
In 1970, the school was merged with the all-white Seacrest High School to form Atlantic Community High School. The old high school became George Washington Carver Middle School. When a new middle school serving Delray Beach opened in 1994, the Carver name was transferred to it. [1] [5] The old campus was renamed the Delray Full Service Center.
The Delray Beach Playhouse, which opened in 1947 in Lake Ida East Park, stages plays, musicals, interactive studio theatre, books on stage, children's theatre productions, classes and camps.
