The Buick Open was a PGA Tour golf tournament from 1958 to 2009. In 2007, the tournament was held at the end of June, a change from its traditional spot between The Open Championship and the PGA Championship. Regardless, many prominent players used it as a "tune-up" for the subsequent major.

The Michigan PGA Championship is a golf tournament that is the section championship of the Michigan section of the PGA of America. It has been played annually since 1922 at a variety of courses around the state. The 2018 event was noticeable for a nearly-forgotten rule that a participant must have 60 days of membership in the Michigan PGA.
That tournament ended after 2009 because of the government seizure of General Motors leading to cessation of golf sponsorship, thus ending the PGA Tour's association with Warwick Hills. [3] [4] The Ally Challenge was first played at the course in 2018. In 2009, a Michigan Historical Marker about the Buick Open was erected at the course. [5]
