After East Hill Avenue, the road curves more directly southeast, and later intersects Washington Route 17, which joins the route in a concurrency until finally reaching I-90 at exit 179, which is a diamond interchange with a south to east loop ramp.
The Ohio Turnpike/I-90 connector (designated exit 8A, now exit 142) was built in Lorain County in Amherst Township and Elyria Township in 1975.
