Carr Creek State Park is a park located along Kentucky Route 15 in Knott County, Kentucky, United States. The park itself encompasses 29 acres (12 ha), while the park's main feature, Carr Creek Lake, covers 750 acres (300 ha). [1] The park contains a 39-site campground, a full-service marina with snack bar, boat rental service, and a beach.
Kentucky Lake had just opened, following completion of the Kentucky Dam in 1944. The new lake, created by the dam on the Tennessee River, had the most beach area of any man-made lake in the world. The leased land would be used as a state park dedicated to recreation. The TVA leased an initial 1,146 acres to Kentucky.
Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park is a Kentucky state park located on the northern shore of Kentucky Lake in Marshall County. The park encompasses 1,351 acres (547 ha) and is one of the state's more popular resort parks. Carter Caves State Resort Park is located in Carter County, Kentucky, United States, along Tygarts Creek. It is formed by Carter Caves, and nearby Cascade Caves, which were added to the park in 1959. [3] On December 16, 1981, 146 acres (59 ha) of the park were designated as nature preserves.
It is centered on the 300-acre (120 ha) Greenbo Lake that features a boat dock and marina. [2] There are over 25 miles (40 km) of hiking, biking and horseback trails. The park hosts a variety of community events each year including a quilt show, murder mystery dinner theaters, scrapbooking, and a 5K race.
Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is a state park located in the northwest corner of Perry County, Kentucky.The park itself encompasses 856 acres (346 ha), while Buckhorn Lake, a mountain reservoir lake which serves as its major feature and which was created by damming the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River, covers approximately 1,230 acres (500 ha). [1]
