Solid State Logic was founded by Colin Sanders in 1969 as the first manufacturer of solid-state control systems for pipe organs. Sanders coined the company's name to explain the then-modern technology of transistor and FET switching to organ builders. Sanders also owned and operated Acorn Studios, a recording studio in Stonesfield, Oxfordshire.
The SL 4000 B Series, introduced in 1976, revolutionized the recording industry by combining the in-line mixing console with a computer which provided fader automation and programmable tape transport auto-location functionality., [4] The B Series was in production for four years, during which a total of six B Series consoles were built and sold, [5] the first B Series console purchased by ...
API's 500-series modules include the 512C preamplifier, the 525 compressor, the 527 compressor, the 550A and 550B semi-parametric equalizers, and the 560 graphic equalizer. [2] In the mid-1970s, some recording engineers began removing individual processor modules from API mixing consoles and installing them into homemade mounting systems.
The way the 1176 sounds, and specifically, the way all-button mode sounds, is partially due to its being a program dependent compressor. The attack and release are program dependent, as is the ratio. The 1176 will faithfully compress or limit at the selected ratio for transients, but the ratio will always increase a bit after the transient.
Other such logic families, such as domino logic, use clocked dynamic techniques to minimize size, power consumption and delay. Before the widespread use of integrated circuits, various solid-state and vacuum-tube logic systems were used but these were never as standardized and interoperable as the integrated-circuit devices.
The Gamma 60 marked Bull's entry into core memory, solid-state logic and magnetic tape capabilities. [7] Its architectural core was based on a large, high-speed central memory, with an arbitrator (known as the Program Distributor) responsible for distributing data and instructions to the various units within the computer.
The UNIVAC Solid State was a magnetic drum-based solid-state computer announced by Sperry Rand in December 1958 as a response to the IBM 650.It was one of the first [1] [2] [citation needed] computers offered for sale to be (nearly) entirely solid-state, using 700 transistors, and 3000 magnetic amplifiers (FERRACTOR) for primary logic, and 20 vacuum tubes largely for power control.
Audiotonix acquired Solid State Logic in 2017, [4] and KLANG Technologies the following year. [5] In 2021, the company acquired Sound Devices, [6] and Slate Digital the following year. [7] In 2023, the company acquired Fourier Audio. [8] The same year, Audiotonix company Solid State Logic acquired Harrison Audio. [9]
