The West Virginia State Highway System is an integrated system of numbered roads in the U.S. state of West Virginia. These highways were coordinated by the West Virginia Department of Transportation, Division of Highways.

The I-70 designation was brought to the Northern Panhandle with the passage of the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, and it was built as a controlled-access highway, bypassing portions of the old National Road. The first portions of I-70 in West Virginia were opened in 1963, and construction was completed in 1971.
While West Virginia was once crisscrossed with commercial and passenger railroad networks, the decline of the coal and timber industries, coupled with the rise of the automobile, led to a sharp drop in track mileage in the state. Many of the former railroad grades are used as trails for hiking and biking throughout the state's numerous woodlands.
West Virginia Route 108 is the designation given to a highway currently open that is intended to be a part of Interstate 73 (I-73) and I-74. The first section opened near Bluefield . West Virginia Route 87 is an east–west state highway located in western West Virginia. The western terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 2 southwest of Mount Alto . The eastern terminus of the route is at West Virginia Route 62 northeast of Evans and 3 miles (5 km) west of Ripley .
