Gloucester High School (/ ˈ ɡ l ɒ s t ər / ⓘ GLOST-ər) is a public four-year comprehensive secondary school, with just over 800 students and 150 faculty and staff, serving Gloucester, Massachusetts. It is accredited by the New England Association of Schools and Colleges and is a member of the Northeast Alliance of High Schools.
The school consists of grades nine through twelve. The school’s academic program is structured around five small learning communities/pathways. These communities and pathways are within an upper school and lower school. They were created in 1998 and 1999. The five small learning communities have a college-based curriculum with a signature theme.
Each year, students have six core academic classes which meet for an hour each, including English, mathematics, history, science, and Spanish (alternative options offered for some students). The sixth class, for upperclassmen, is a theory class relating to their shop, and pathways for freshmen and sophomores.
