Sand Beach Township is a civil township of Huron County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 1,155 at the 2020 census. [3] The city of Harbor Beach is mostly surrounded by the township but is administered autonomously.
It was created by Michigan law on April 1, 1840, [4] and was fully organized by an Act of Legislature on January 25, 1859. [1] Sand Beach (now Harbor Beach) was the county seat until 1865, when the court house burned, destroying most of its records.
The highway begins at M-22 north of Empire, and continues north along the west side of Glen Lake. South of Glen Haven, the route turns east, and enters Glen Arbor, where it terminates once more at M-22. M-201 is a short highway in the north of the county. The route begins at M-22 south of Northport, and runs north into the village.
